Position Overview: 

The Investment Team MBA Senior Associate position will play a key role within Franklin Alliance – this is a hands-on internship with real impact starting on day 1. MBA Senior Associates will have a high degree of responsibility and develop meaningful skills and an investment mindset valuable for careers across finance, including search funds, investment banking, private equity, and public investing. MBA Senior Associates will work with each other and directly with the investing strategy leads. Responsibilities and opportunities will include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Financial analysis: Participate in due diligence and financial analysis of potential targets.
  • Company valuation: Assist in the valuation of potential targets. 
  • Investment thesis formation: Identify and evaluate potential businesses for investment in the context of Franklin Alliance’ key investment criteria. 
  • Investment sourcing: Starting from investment theses that have already been identified, this role will identify potential acquisition targets, and evaluate them in the context of Franklin Alliance criteria. 
  • Targeted outreach: Assist in creating personalized outreach to potential acquisition targets.

Franklin Alliance will give MBA Senior Associates the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of investing and private equity deal processes:

  • Private market transaction dynamics: MBA Senior Associates will learn about the operations and workings of the private equity markets and related participants, including search funds, and more.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): MBA Senior Associates will learn how M&A transactions are completed in practice, understanding the process from first outreach to completed transaction.
  • Deal evaluation: MBA Senior Associates will learn what companies are a particularly good fit for search funds and private equity buyouts. 

Job Specifications:

Quantitative

  • You will research and help partners source CPA and professional services businesses
  • You will dig into growth trends in the market
  • You will perform business model and competitive analyses
  • You will prepare financial models to help evaluate opportunities
  • You will prepare investment memos and presentations for the investment committee

Qualitative

  • You will help structure and execute acquisitions of attractive opportunities
  • You will make thoughtful introductions on behalf of our partners to business owners that you are able to engage from our proprietary outreach program
  • You will communicate the unique value proposition and mission of Franklin Alliance
  • You will collaborate with important and impactful stakeholders within the Franklin Alliance ecosystem

Qualifications and Attributes: 

Franklin Alliance is accepting applications from undergraduate and graduate students interested in a career in finance, investing, and entrepreneurship. Candidates with backgrounds in investment banking and private equity are strongly preferred. The program will likely be of highest value to students seeking later internships and full-time roles in investment banking, private equity, or careers in finance more generally. 

  • Passion and curiosity for finance and investing 
  • Strong interest in search funds, entrepreneurship through acquisition, and private equity
  • Highly proficient with analytics skills (Excel modeling)
  • Strong leadership, time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks with efficiency and a good attitude
  • High growth potential with a willingness to learn and evolve in your role
  • Passion for entrepreneurship and operations management
